Bloomberg reported that Cigna Group had revived its efforts to combine with its smaller rival, Humana (HUM) after merger talks fell apart late last year.
The two health insurance giants, with a combined market value of more than $125 billion, have held informal discussions recently about a potential deal.
Last year, Cigna and Humana had held talks for a cash and stock deal but was later abandoned by Cigna due to failure to agree on a price.

November 11, 2024: Cigna (CI) confirmed it won’t pursue a combination with Humana (HUM).
According to the statement released by Cigna, “in light of recent and persistent speculation, The Cigna Group expects to communicate that the company is not pursuing a combination with Humana Inc. The Cigna Group remains committed to its established M&A criteria and would only consider acquisitions that are strategically aligned, financially attractive, and have a high probability to close.”
