The Financial Times reported that Uber (UBER) has explored a possible bid for Expedia (EXPE). The ride-hailing app approached advisers in recent months after a third party broached the idea of an Expedia acquisition to examine whether such a deal would be possible and how it could be structured.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi served as Expedia CEO from 2005 to 2017, before joining Uber. Khosrowshahi remains as a non-executive director at Expedia.

October 31, 2024: Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi indicated in a CNBC interview that he is not interested in a large transformational deal for Uber (UBER) and would prefer to focus on smaller transactions such as its planned acquisition of Delivery Hero’s foodpanda business.
November 4, 2024: Expedia (EXPE) Chairman and media mogul Barry Diller said no deal with Uber (UBER) is going to take place. “Full stop, it’s not going to happen,” Diller said in an interview with CNBC. “It’s just not going to happen.”
