Microsemi (MSCC), the largest U.S. commercial supplier of military and aerospace semiconductor equipment, is exploring its options, including a possible sale, after it received a takeover approach, a person familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

February 27, 2018: Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) is in advanced talks to buy Microsemi Corp.,(MSCC) according to people familiar with the matter, in what would be the latest in a wave of deals sweeping the semiconductor industry.

March 01, 2018: Microchip Technology Incorporated (MCHP) , a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, and Microsemi Corporation (MSCC) , a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced that the two companies have signed a definitive agreement pursuant to which Microchip will acquire Microsemi for $68.78 per share in cash.
