Online vehicle auctioneer Copart, Inc. (CPRT) entered into a merger agreement on September 10, 2026, to acquire peer ACV Auctions in a deal valued at $1.90 billion.

The transaction marks Copart’s entry into the dealer-to-dealer wholesale vehicle remarketing market and expands its business beyond its core salvage vehicle auctions. The acquisition comes as Copart looks to diversify its vehicle supply amid slower volumes, partly due to insurers retaining more vehicles and consumers reducing auto insurance spending amid inflation.
