Introduction and the Pre-IPO Story

Insider buying increased to over $333 million this week, compared to around $103 million the week prior. A large portion of this total was driven by the $219 million purchase of Madison Air Solutions Corporation (MAIR) by 10% owner and Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli. We typically don’t feature purchases by 10% owners in our weekly list of top five insider purchases and sales, but given that a Director of the company also purchased over half a million dollars worth of stock, we figured we’d at least leave the purchase by Mr. Bertarelli in. However, it is worth noting that the transaction was a private placement and not an open-market purchase, which makes sense considering just how large the purchase was in the first place.
