I started our last Mid-Month Update covering insider buying in 62 software companies by stating:
“Industries in crisis provide fantastic opportunities if you are willing to wait patiently for some of the dust to settle and don’t mind temporary drawdowns as it is nearly impossible to pick bottoms.”
I was reminded of that line last week when I saw, after a nearly 11 month break, the first $1+ billion acquisition announced by a private equity firm that is defined by its focus on software and data. This firm was so acquisitive that at one point in mid-2025, it was announcing one new acquisition each month. In August 2025, it announced two transactions in the same month, one of which was the $12.3 billion acquisition of HCM software company Dayforce.
