Solstice Advanced Materials, Inc. (SOLS) entered into a merger agreement on July 6, 2026, to acquire its peer in the specialty chemicals industry, Element Solutions, in a deal valued at $14.5 billion, as it aims to benefit from growing demand from AI data centers and the semiconductor industry.

The deal is aimed at expanding Solstice’s presence in the fast-growing electronics and AI infrastructure markets. AI data centers require more advanced chips and chip-packaging materials, while their high power consumption is driving demand for liquid cooling systems that use specialty fluids and refrigerants such as those made by Solstice.
