Looking at the top insider transactions this week, we came across two rather interesting purchases. The first was Gary Friedman, CEO and Chairman of luxury lifestyle brand RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) purchasing nearly $10 million worth of stock – one of his largest purchases ever. RH now trades at around $244 per share, well below its 2021 highs of over $720 per share, and it’s possible that Mr. Friedman now thinks that the company is undervalued and seized the opportunity to purchase shares.
However, the second purchase that stood out to us was of a company that we’ve never seen before. James B. Miller Jr, the Chairman of AI-based supply chain management and software company, American Software, purchased roughly $2.7 million worth of shares – his first purchase of the company ever. This is especially interesting since it’s not as if Mr. Miller is new to American Software – he’s served on the company’s board since 2002, though he did just become Chairman in February 2024. Mr. Miller was not alone in his purchase either, another Director also purchased shares – although the value is much smaller at $42,650. Mr. Miller’s purchase is also interesting as it is the largest insider purchase at American Software over the last 14 years. Taking into consideration all these factors, we decided to explore the company a little further in this article.
