We’re thrilled to release this week’s special episode, an interview with my friend Jesse Felder.
Jesse is an accomplished market analyst, and financial publisher with a distinguished career in finance. He is known for his contrarian leanings and skepticism of popular investment trends.
Episode 74 of our weekly Special Situations Report Podcast with Jesse Felder can be found on Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcasts.
Jesse began his professional journey at Bear, Stearns & Co. in 1997 and later co-founded a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund firm. In 2005, Felder launched a blog that would later become The Felder Report, a publication featuring his contrarian thoughts and opinions on capital markets. Since June 2017, Felder has been producing and hosting the “Superinvestors and the Art of Worldly Wisdom” podcast, which explores the work and life lessons of some of the financial industry’s most insightful minds.
Our conversation with Jesse centered around a number of fascinating topics, including being a contrarian investor across market cycles and bubbles, the opportunity cost of being bearish, and how he looks for signal in insider transactions.
We spent quite some time discussing the AI-related bubble, focusing on how the associated technology buildout compares to significant economic buildouts of the past. We also spoke about treasury yields, the bond market, as well as segments of the market that stand out despite the AI craze, such as energy and apparel. We learned so much from this discussion, and we hope our listeners will too.
