NextEra Energy, Inc. (NEE) entered a merger agreement on May 18, 2026, to acquire Dominion Energy for $130 billion, creating one of the world’s largest electric utilities if the deal closes.

The deal is one of the biggest energy mergers ever. The new company’s total enterprise value of roughly $420 billion will also exceed the combined value of the next two largest U.S. power companies, The Southern Company (SO), and Constellation Energy (CEG).
