STAAR Surgical Company (STAA): $24.15
Market Cap: $1.19B
Deal Size: $1.65B
As the year comes to an end, we might be witnessing another deal heading toward termination due to shareholder pushback. Following the collapse of TaskUs’ (TASK) acquisition by Blackstone (BX) and TaskUs co-founders, and Core Scientific’s (CORZ) acquisition by CoreWeave (CRWV), STAAR Surgical now appears to be on a similar path.
STAAR Surgical (STAA) was once a leading player in refractive eye surgery, producing and marketing implantable lenses. However, its shares have fallen sharply from a 2021 peak of $162 to around $24, following declining revenue and a collapse in sales in China.
