Merger Arbitrage

  1. SPTN: SpartanNash (SPTN) announced that the new 30-day waiting period imposed by the HSR Act expired on September 18, 2025, without action by the FTC. The company expects the closing of the deal to occur on September 22, 2025.
  2. TECK: Canadian Press reported that a First Nations chief in the southern British Columbia Interior says he’s concerned the proposed merger between Teck Resources (TECK) and Anglo American (AAUKF) will ignore Indigenous rights and title. Chief Clarence Louie of the Osooyos Indian Band says a deal of that scale has the potential to have significant effects on First Nations and can’t be completed without Indigenous inclusion.
  3. VTLE: Crescent Energy (CRGY) filed Form S-4 for the acquisition of Vital Energy (VTLE). The companies expect to complete the merger by year-end 2025.
