Long before Sirius Satellite Radio merged with its rival XM Satellite Radio in 2008, I used to have a position in the company and followed it closely as it tried to carve a space for itself in the new and exciting area of satellite radio and paid ungodly amounts to radio stars like Howard Stern. I watched from the sidelines as the company went on to acquire Pandora a decade later in 2018.
In this day and age of digital streaming and podcasts, my first inclination on revisiting Sirius after news that it now has a new CFO was that I would find a “melting ice cube” of a company but was pleasantly surprised. On April 4, 2023, Sirius XM Holdings (SIRI) announced that Thomas D. Barry, who is currently Senior Vice President and Controller, has been promoted to take over as the company’s Chief Financial Officer effective April 28, 2023.
