According to Reuters, Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA) approached by Akzo Nobel NV

Dutch paints and coatings giant Akzo Nobel NV  has approached U.S. rival Axalta Coating Systems Ltd (AXTA) to discuss a possible merger that would create a global coatings giant, according to sources familiar with the matter.

November 21, 2017: AkzoNobel and Axalta ended their discussions without agreement.
